Loved this song, back in 1972, when it was #1 on the charts briefly. Interesting times, the early 70s.
The song did earn Helen Reddy a Grammy for Female Pop Vocal Performance, and I still remember when she gave her acceptance speech for that Grammy--she ended the speech by thanking God "because She makes everything possible". A lot of people freaked out over that remark, but I absolutely loved it!
So, I found this on You Tube. Enjoy!

Comedian Rush Limbaugh
He's even pissing off some Repubs!
House GOP member to Rush: Back off
The first comment at Politico expressed it perfectly:
He (or she) got it right!

The first comment at Politico expressed it perfectly:
Where the logic of Rush fails is that he seems to think that Republicans weren’t conservative enough, and that’s why the people voted for Democrats.
Need I say more?

Today's AVON Conference Call
Some of the information and announcements covered, I had already heard, at the Seminar yesterday. Here's just a few things discussed today on the call.
1. Jennifer Hudson will sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl
2. Pre-Game AD: They will be airing the Avon Recruiting Ad, at approximately 621pm.
3. Incentives: Cash In On Orders. That one's going to be tough, even though it looks good on paper.
4. LEAD SHARING: DMs will be allowed to share leads with AUL and above, effective Super Bowl Sunday. They also said that the calls generated from the TV ads are routed to Springdale, instead of India.
5. President's Club/Double Dollars: This one's cool! PC and above will get "Double Dollars" award sales on ALL sales for C 6 + C 7. Normally, the Double Dollars are only on specific products, not all products sold.
6. National Conference: To be held in Vegas, the week of August 10th. The muckity-mucks on the call seemed unsure of exact dates, but we were told at the Seminar yesterday, that it will be Aug 12th - 13th. Cost: $99 And, this year, any Rep can go, regardless of Leadership level. Even non-Leadership can attend, although everything will be geared to the Leadership program.
7. Online Appointments: roll out nationally, “shortly after” the SEUL retreat, which is Feb 23rd.
Now, that right there IS exciting news!

Mail Delivery May be Decreased
and of course, rates will go up again in May.
Debt may do what rain, heat, gloom can’t
Guess I'll scrounge together the money to buy some extra "forever" stamps, assuming they still sell them?
-----------------------------------------------------
The next postal rate increase is scheduled for May, with the amount to be announced next month. Under current rules that would be limited to the amount of the increase in last year’s consumer price index, 3.8 percent. That would round to a 2-cent increase in the current 42-cent first class rate.

DAMN IT!
This is supposed to be my "off" week. Avon order went in at noon today, and comes in sometime Thursday. Normally, that means I have lots of "free time" (as in "no obligations") this week. No deliveries, time to catch up on reading, laundry, cleaning, whatever I choose or need to do.
THIS week is different though!
Tomorrow: trip to Tampa for the Career Seminar. That right there has me way off my usual routine, such as it is. Why? It involves getting up waaaay early--we are leaving Michelle's house at 730am. Probably won't get back here til 5 or 6pm. Whole day shot, right there!
Wednesday: Conference call with some of the corporate muckity-mucks, for some "big announcement". My guess: maybe they are FINALLY going to roll out the online appointment process for ALL of us, rather than just the lucky Test Divisions? Who knows!
Thursday is just the usual--UPS will drop off the boxes whenever they get around to it. And I will sort and check in the stuff, then bag orders.
Friday: District meeting
Saturday: Leadership Meeting--time TBA
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HA! Just realized, KO is in Tampa, for the Super Bowl! Wouldn't it be cool if.....nah....ain't gonna happen! KO won't be anywhere near whatever hotel this Seminar is at!
Oh well!
Beautiful Day!
WOW! What a beautiful, historic day it has been!
I have been watching all the Inauguration events all day, and now the balls. Michelle's gown is simply beautiful!
The Commander-in-Chief's Inaugural Ball: live feed/satellite thingy, with some of the Illinois National Guard from the Chicago area. President Obama talked with each of them, one on one. He mentioned a group over the, from the metro-east area, specifically SAFB. Pretty cool, and impressive! Then, the dancing: first, Barack and Michelle danced with each other, then they each danced with a service person.
I don't remember ever feeling quite this good, hopeful and excited about a new President!
‘Yes We’re Cans’
Tomorrow is the Day of Service, and I CAN help out a little, even though I will be out doing my deliveries!
There were several listed for my area, including a Food Drive. I will bag up what canned goods and stuff I can afford to donate, and drop it off while I am out.
Even though I am dirt poor, I know there are plenty of others who are much worse off than I. It would just be wrong, not to help out when and where I can.
Speak of CANS, I found this on the USA Service website:
Reading and Laughing
The book I am currently reading is The Persian Pickle Club, by Sandra Dallas. It's set in Depression-era Kansas. Those were some tough times, and I have the feeling we are not far from another serious Depression right now.
Anyway, the following short passage I am quoting here, really made me laugh!
Okay, so I'm a little warped! Can't help it, that was just FUNNY!
Anyway, the following short passage I am quoting here, really made me laugh!
She called Pa an old sinner and said it was a shame Jesus died for people like him. Pa got her back. Pa says "Died? I never knowed He was feeling poorly." Sonny laughed, and I had to smile.
Artsy - Crafty?
I have absolutely NO talents at all in the realm of artsy-crafty! Just never learned any of those cool things, maybe because I didn't inherit that particular gene, who knows?
Anyway, I admire and appreciate that talent in others, and love to see what their latest creations are.
Over in my links is "Mi Vida Azar", a site I wandered into a few days ago while looking for something else. It's a really cool site--she has a lot of pictures there, of things she made herself, and things others have made for her.
My Mom did a lot of that kind of stuff-knit, crochet, embroidery, quilting, etc. Then there was the plastics and yarn stuff she did. I'm not sure what it's properly called, but she made things like Kleenex box covers. It was some kind of plastic stuff, and she put yarn through the holes, following some sort of pattern? Whatever it's called, the stuff she made was pretty. I have several different things saved, and treasure them, not just for the beauty, but because Mom made tham.
One of these days, I need to learn how to do something creative like that. Meanwhile, I'll just continue admiring the skills and talents of others!
I BLAME SARAH!
Another weekend, and I haven't really done much of anything all week!
Well, I did get the orders delivered on Monday, except for the one dingbat who won't call back so I can drop off her order! Oh well, I'll just send it back, and any future orders will be "Pre-Pay Only". I understand being on a fixed income. I understand being broke. But I cannot and will NOT cover anyone's order. Pay on time, or it goes back!
ANYWAY, I blame Sarah. It's all her fault I am getting nothing done these days! I can't stop following the soap opera she's made of herself since being announced last August, as McCain's VP choice.
From the moment I saw her being rolled out to the nation, my instinct was screaming at me, "Something is NOT RIGHT with that woman!" And judging from all I have seen of her, and read of her online, I was right!
All the different "gates"....it just gets deeper and deeper. And every time she opens her mouth, she stirs up even more muck!
She is a pitiful joke, and I am so thankful that Obama and Biden were elected.
More later--I simply can't resist another peek at Mudflats, Palin's Deceptions, and a few other favorites, to see what's new!
I have always been one who has a great deal of intellectual curiosity,
not only about politics, but the world around me in general. As a result
of that curiosity, I simply enjoy learning other world views, and the opinions
of others, whether they are similar to mine or not.
Oh yes...no WAY was that woman ready to be one 72 y/o heartbeat away.
Even if she was, I'd still not vote for her; based on issues.
On issues, I am much more liberal, but still curious and respectful of the views
and opinions of others. To me, that is a true American value: the right to
have one's own opinions and belief systems. How's that saying go...."I may not
agree with you, but I will defend your right to your opinion"...something like that?
Wouldn't life be rather boring if we were all cookie cutter copies of the same
mold? (Think "Stepford Wives")
Have a good nite! :)
I totally agree! I actually voted for her because of the issues she stood for not so much because of her experience.
Anyways, I'm glad there are other people on this site who can brush off all the rude comments. I've been getting quite a laugh tonight.
I'll be on the Palin fan club for a little while longer then I need to really hit the sack.
Nite!
Team Sarah
I can't help it--I simply have a curious mind. I want to know what the 'other side' is thinking, where they're coming from, what makes them tick. Because of that curiosity, I sometimes listen to Rush or Sean on the radio. I sometimes tune in FOX Noise too, and check out Bill O'Reilly, Greta, Ann Coulter, etc for the same reasons.
I usually can't stand any of them for more than about 5 or 10 minutes, and change stations again. If it's TV, I go back to MSNBC; radio: back to either NPR or the classic rock station.
I also make it a point to visit some of the wing-nut websites. It's just a good thing to be exposed to alternate ideas, thoughts and belief systems--I am NOT narrow minded, I want to know as much as possible about everything!
Tonite, I peeked in at the Team Sarah site. There's a new blog entry there, from one of the Moderators. AND IT ACTUALLY MAKES A LITTLE SENSE!
http://tinyurl.com/9o5pwh
here's a quote from that blog:
I was shocked to actually see a Palinite actually admit to knowing what (thankfully!) most American voters knew all along!
Color me suprised!
That link no longer works. The person (PApolitico) who wrote the article, deleted it last nite.
and tonite, when I checked back, PApolitico seems to have been deleted!
I still have a couple PMs between the 2 of us...maybe I should bring them here!
Sarah Palin is not qualified to be President in 2012. And honestly, she wasn't qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency this cycle. The mayoral and gubernatorial experience was great, but when push came to shove she couldn't give a coherent foreign policy statement other than "Russia is Alaska's neighbor." We all noticed.
I was shocked to actually see a Palinite actually admit to knowing what (thankfully!) most American voters knew all along!
Color me suprised!
Makes me shake my head and think again about the "Wild Ride" story Sarah Palin told regarding the birth of little Trig!
What is the real story? Who is the birth mother? Would any doctor ok someone flying that late in a pregnancy, and with "leaking amniotic fluid" thrown in for good measure? It makes no sense at all. Except possibly as the storyline for a tv soap!
The New Year
Happy 2009!
It feels great, knowing that 2008 is finally over, and in 19 more days, we will finally be at the "end of an error". Bush will be gone, at last! He never should have been in office to begin with, back in 2000.
Now we have Obama to look forward to, and the hope for changes, positive changes. I don't expect miracles to just happen overnite; he's coming into a really huge mess. I have hope and faith that he will do good for our country, and all the people.
