Weekly Address 2/28/09

A quote from today's weekly address:

I know these steps won’t sit well with the special interests and lobbyists who are invested in the old way of doing business, and I know they’re gearing up for a fight as we speak. My message to them is this:

"So am I."

I love love LOVE it! Finally, we have an unabashedly progressive voice in the White House. And, he is ready to make the changes he promised us!

Thank you President Obama! Thank you, for fighting for all of us, and not just letting the special interests continue the way they have been, and destroying us!

Family

Been worrying about my brother. He seems so angry these days! And, a little bit of racism occasionally rears it ugly head, though he denies it. However, I have known him all his life, and know the way things were during our growing up years.

He is NOT happy that we now have President Obama; and I really don't get it at all. During the primaries, he was a Hillary supporter, and got really pissed when she did not win the nomination. He never did say who he would vote for--my guess is one of the 'others', since he did not like McSame either.

He tells me he thinks he is smarter than President Obama! He believes he has all the solutions to fix the economy, and President Obama is not responding to his emails?

I love my brother, but right now, I just don't understand him and how he is thinking.

Catching Up, or TRYING To!

WOW! Things have been busy here, seems I am on the phone or doing computer and paperwork stuff all day long. After a period of extreme slowdown, now it's getting to be non-stop! And, that really is a GOOD thing!

Finally, appointments are happening, and orders are picking up again for the Avon. And, the Lead-Share thing is supposed to go 'live' next week. Last night, I read the Agreement, and marked the box for "I Agree", so I am IN!

We are just about at the end of the Avon year, and I am working hard, trying to help my Reps who are tracking for President's Club, to make it. OK, I'll admit it: I am really hoping to get as many as possible to PC; not just for them, but for ME. This year, there's an Incentive, where I can earn some extra bonus money for every 2 First Gen Reps that make PC or above. I need the extra money!!

There's an Avon Staff meeting on March 5th, in Brandon I think it is? I really want to go, but the problem is transportation. Brandon is about 70-80 miles from here, and I wouldn't trust my truck on the road trip.

My truck is not in the best shape! Speedometer and odometer broke a few years ago, leaking oil, gas mileage sucks! Oh yeah----don't forget the electrical issues going on: silly stuff, like the dome light comes on at random intervals, and so does the "door ajar" light. There's also the check engine light, O/D off light--they kind of do their own thing too. And, I simply do NOT have the money available to 'fix' all this! The truck is paid for, and still runs, so for now, it will do, for local deliveries and the usual trips to WalMart and the Dollar Store, so things could be worse!

Luckily, there's a chance I can meet up with a couple Reps from a neighboring district, and carpool. Otherwise, I'd just have to skip it!

Support a Truth & Reconciliation Commission

I know I am not the only one to believe the previous administration should not be 'above the law', and therefore allowed to just get by with whatever they chose to do on their watch.

Senator Patrick Leahy is proposing

the idea of a truth and reconciliation commission to investigate abuses during the Bush-Cheney Administration -- so they never happen again. These abuses may include the use of torture, warrantless wiretapping, extraordinary rendition, and executive override of laws.

Follow the link, watch Sen Leahy's video; please sign the petition, and share it with others.
(Special thanks to Annette; I found the link first on her blog)

Obama: 'Road to recovery will not be straight'

Today in Denver, President Obama signed the $787 billion economic stimulus bill.

There's also a new website, where we the people, can "track the Recovery Act's progress every step of the way."

Transparency and accountability....what a wonderful concept!

HBO DOCUMENTARIES

Obviously I don't spend enough time watching TV. We have Cable TV at my house, including HBO in the package, yet I don't have a clue what's coming up there, unless someone alerts me, or I happen to see it mentioned online.

Tonite, while reading at Palin's Deceptions, a documentary by filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi was mentioned by Diana in the comments (thanks, Diana!).

I googled the title, and found the link:

RIGHT AMERICA: FEELING WRONGED - SOME VOICES FROM THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL

Of course, it's at the tail-end already, so I'll try watching the whole thing tomorrow night. What I DID see of it, was some pretty disgusting, so-called Americans, during the Campaign, saying all the usual negative shit about Barack Obama. "He's a terrorist", "he's a Muslim"....the usual garbage we all heard. And, no doubt, these same freakazoids call themselves 'Christians'?

Another documentary coming up on HBO this Saturday:

TAKING CHANCE.

It's going to be on Saturday 8pm EST. As far as I know, I should be free and able to watch it. There are of course, other dates and times I can see it; and if all else fails, it will be "on Demand" starting Feb 24th.

President Obama's "Spiffy Ride"

I watched this on CNN's website, and just thought it was cool!

I can't remember ever seeing the Air Force One personalized jacket before, with any previous presidents--is that something new, or did I just never notice it?

Busy Stuff

Saturday, I had the meeting for my Reps who are on track for President's Club. Attendance was beyond poor, as in ZERO. So, I just enjoyed my coffee at Starbucks, and talked to some of the other customers, and gave them brochures. The way I see it, the time was NOT wasted. I enjoyed having my coffee THERE, instead of the usual "to go".

Bulk mail is done, sorted and boxed. I'll drop it off tomorrow, when I'm out that way anyhow.

Phone calls and emails to customers are done, just waiting for return calls.

What's left to get done? Just the usual:
-Feed birds
-Fix something to eat (chicken breasts?)
-Laundry
-Mop kitchen again

Probably, the mopping can wait!
