I stayed in my jammies, fuzzy slippers and robe all day, reading blogs, listening to the teevee. My jammies for the times we get a cold front and the temps drop below 60: sweat suits!
I just peeked at the local weather online: current temp is 46, and it's supposed to get down to 38 overnight. No wonder I am freezing! Jeez! I did NOT move to FL to be cold in the winter!
I am 'listening to the teevee' here in my bedroom, not watching it. It's old, and on it's deathbed. When I get a picture on it, it's all messed up, and the sound is distorted with a loud humming noise. When there is NO picture, the sound is perfect.
Yesterday, I looked at the Good Will store, to see what tv's they might have. They had ONE: a little 13" one. I looked all over that one, and there was no place to plug it into a cable box--so, it wouldn't get anything at all. Oh well.
Maybe tomorrow, if there's time, I'll get to the one remaining KMart store and see what they have. I hear KMart still does lay-a-way, LOL!
If nothing else works out, I could just move the tv from the family room to my room. Or, move the computer to the family room?
Tomorrow, I must get out of the pj's (sweats) and go out; there's one 'stop & drop delivery', and a basket of brochures to toss. I dread going out in the cold, but at least the heater in the truck works--or it did the last time I needed it! ;)

H1N1 Vaccine?
Did YOU get the vaccine?
Why or Why Not?
I did NOT.
Because:
I seldom catch so much as a common cold, let alone the flu! I think my last cold was before my Dad passed on; almost 5 years ago.
With reports of vaccine shortages, I felt it was better that I leave 'my' dose for someone else who might need it more.
I absolutely HATE needles!

Limpballs: No Heart Attack!
In his little press conference, Rush says the docs found no coronary artery disease, blahblahblah.
Something funny he said: "I got an angiogram....a catheter treatment through the heart...."
I hate to inform you, Mr. Limpballs....an angiogram is NOT a treatment. It is a diagnostic procedure involving the use of X-ray imaging to see the inside of the heart's blood vessels.
And, of course it was negative---the gasbag has no heart!
Notice how he states that he received the best care in the world, and there is "nothing wrong" with our health care system. HA! Easy to say and believe excellent health care is available in our country...IF one happens to be a millionaire and/or have good health insurance!

Welcome, 2010!
WOW!
A brand-new year, already!
Time seems to fly...faster with each passing year!
Christmas kept me busy---got all the Avon deliveries done, and then finished shopping for my family. It was a slim Christmas--not a whole lot of gifts. Most of the money I had available for shopping, I spent on my granddaughters. It's such a joy, to watch them open gifts--they enjoy the simplest things, like sidewalk chalk, a new movie, classic kid games.
New Years' Eve: I stayed home in my jammies, and watched Kathy Griffen/Anderson Cooper cover the celebration in Times Square. At midnite, I went out in the driveway to watch the fireworks. Neighbors across the street joined me for hugs and good wishes.
The blue moon made the night so bright and beautiful here. A little chilly...60s I think? Not too bad though!
I hope this new year will bring good things, good solutions, and better times for all of us.
PEACE!!

Countdown: Special Comment
Keith pretty much nailed it, again!
So many of us have emailed, called, signed petitions, and we have CRAP for reform??
I think it's time to throw out the "bill" and start over. Get the Public Option in, go for the Medicare buy-in.
FORGET BIPARTISANSHIP! The Repugs are going to continue to be obstructive, and go against anything that might be good for the people, so the hell with them!
Dems: it's time to grow a pair, and JUST DO IT!

Holidays
As usual, I am not even close to ready for Christmas!
I have only picked up a few things for the girls, and a small fragrance set for youngest son. Most of the remaining gifts will be gift cards. Kids are grown, and actually love the gift cards, so that makes things a lot easier!
Christmas dinner? Most likely, I'll just go to Publix and get one of their already-cooked dinners, since I still have the broken oven. Publix does a decent meal; but I really prefer my own cooking. Maybe next year, I can do my own, LOL!

Mail Call
I have a PO Box, so I don't check the mail every day, like those who get the mail at their houses. I only pick up the mail once or twice a week, depending on where else my days take me. Sometimes, the mail piles up and sits there, un-opened for a while.
Today I opened some mail that I picked up on my last trip to post office. One of the bills is for tag renewal for my truck: $70.15! WTF!?! I had heard something earlier this year about the fees going up this year, but THAT MUCH??
Seriously, I will have to look around the Tax Collector website and see if I can find out why it jumped up so much.
And, I'll have to adjust the monthly budget, and find the extra money to renew.

What's Up?
I just have not felt like writing or saying much of anything--here or anywhere for a while. The words just have been on hold or whatever! Happens sometimes, what can I say?
I have been watching the news shows, reading, and listening to radio shows, trying to stay on top of what's happening in the world. I just did not feel any words trying to break out, so other than a few comments on favorite blogs, I have stayed quiet.
Now, it's time to type again, so watch for typos, LOL!

Senator Edward Kennedy 1932-2009
I simply cannot find the words to express how sad I feel at the loss of Senator Kennedy!
May he be at peace, on the other side of this life, in the company of his brothers, parents and others who passed on before him.
We MUST have Health Care Reform, WITH Public Option.
WHEN it passes, it should bear his name!

High School
My 40th HS Reunion is coming up--Labor Day weekend. I have absolutely no desire or any intention of making the trip to Illinois to attend.
I endured High School, much the way children will 'clean their plates' in order to move on to dessert!
For me, high school was nothing at all like 'the best years of your life', as so many "Moms" in movies say to their teen kids. For me, it was simply one of those things I had to go through in order to move on to the better things in life, such as adulthood, motherhood and freedom. It was simply another growth experience on the way to where (and who) I am today.
I grew up in interesting times, to say the least! Do the math and remember...where we were as a country, back in 1969. Civil Rights...Viet Nam...Equal Rights Movement...birth control options for women still new...the dawning of the 'Age of Aquarius'....hippies etc.
The high school I graduated from was in a city undergoing "white flight". When I first entered high school, the mix was about 50-50. By 1968, my school was about 85-90% black. My parents, sad to admit, were racists. I wasn't allowed to participate in much of the usual extra-curricular activities in school, because of that. We were raised as Lutherans, and I remember my Dad saying many times, his worst fears were that one of his daughters would someday want to marry a Catholic or a black. Funny thing: I don't remember him (OR Mom!) ever expressing the same fears about our brother's choice of a wife?? Go figure!
Eventually, I not only DID marry a Catholic, I even converted to the Catholic faith. My sister, the GOOD kid, married someone of the Lutheran faith, and is still married to the same man, 36 years later, and still practicing the Lutheran faith we were raised in. My brother these days, I think is probably participating in whichever 'fundie' religion his wife is practicing.
Meanwhile, I have totally lapsed, not just from Catholicism, but from organized religion in general! The last few years, I have been researching and studying the Earth Based Beliefs, and find they make more sense than all the stuff in the traditional organized religions!
Anyway, back to the Reunion stuff!
I did attend the 30th, against my better judgement! Here's how that came about!
One Sunday, I found a message on my answering machine, from a person I went to HS with: Bob XXXX. At the time, my landline was non-published--meaning, even the operator couldn't give it out! So...WHO gave my number to Bob; how did he get it?? He had contacted my Dad, who still lived in Illinois at the time (and was in the phone book). Dad gave it to him! I was really PISSED that Dad would just give out my PRIVATE number like that, and oh boy, did I jump him!
When my daughter found out about that 30th Reunion, she managed to talk me into making the trip, and went with me.
It wasn't really awful, just depressing. Way too many of my class had already died. Some in Viet Nam...others from drug overdoses, some from acts of violence, a few from cancer or heart attacks and a few from AIDS. Funniest thing from that reunion: one attendee, who was a cheerleader in HS....obviously dug up her old yearbook---she attended the reunion, wearing her hair and makeup, EXACTLY as she was shown in the 1969 yearbook, LOL! Remember the movie "Peggy Sue Got Married"!
The email I got today, Bob XXXX listed the info he has collected so far, on everyone. For me, all he has gathered is name, city, state, and email. I am tempted to ask that instead of the email, he list my business website, LOL! In these trying economic times, I certainly wouldn't mind a few extra website orders! ;)
I have absolutely NO desire to re-visit HS HELL at all. I am debating with myself: respond and say nicely of course, that I will NOT be there, or simply IGNORE the email.
Anyway, I have been feeling depressed lately, and the thought of a 40th HS reunion does absolutely nothing to improve my state of mind!
Love to all of you, but I do NOT miss the days of high school at all!
