Childhood Obesity

First Lady Michelle Obama had a press conference earlier today to unveil her campaign to battle childhood obesity.

It's an issue that we all need to be concerned with.

The stats are frightening.

According to the CDC:

Childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years. The prevalence of obesity among children aged 6 to 11 years increased from 6.5% in 1980 to 19.6% in 2008. The prevalence of obesity among adolescents aged 12 to 19 years increased from 5.0% to 18.1%.

If your kids are still kids, please, for their sake, keep them eating healthy, and active.

If, like me, your kids are grown, do what you can to encourage them to see to it they are feeding the kids good stuff, less junk, and that the kids are active, rather than just glued to the tube or playing video games all the time.

The kids are our future. Let's all do our part for them!
